About MapRA - contd

We have sub-committees for many topics, including planning, conservation, gardens open day and parking strategy.  Currently members are involved in working closely with the police; supporting members against anti-social behaviour  & encouraging recycling. We are most proud of the development of our Community Link project, whereby people are brought together with a variety of interests in common: including walking, gardening, book club, theatre, music, bridge and local history.

Our most exciting community project to date is the Mapesbury Dell. We helped raise money to renovate the sad and neglected park in Hoveden Road. This park has now been finished and open to all the community and run Brent Council and the Mapesbury Dell Trust.

MapRA members devote their time to community initiatives and local issues. It is made up of a broad spectrum of people all of whom have an interest in their local community at heart and who wish to foster good citizenship through active involvement.

What do we do?

  • Act as a social conduit for the members and foster and facilitate community spirit;
  • Take an active interest in the local government of the area covering our membership;
  • Preserve the Mapesbury conservation area;
  • We work closely with Brent Council  on planning,  parking and Streetcare issues;
  • Liaise closely with partner organisations such as Brent Police to deal effectively with neighbourhood issues and problems as well as providing a crime bulletin service to members about emerging crime trends;
