Local Police: SNT priorities

As a result of a public attitude survey of some 500 local residents conducted in April 2006 the Mapesbury Safer Neighbourhoods Team have prioritised the following issues of immediate concern and we are focusing all our resources on tackling the following matters.

  • Robbery of the person across the ward but in particular within close proximity to the transport nodes of Kilburn and Willesden Green Underground Stations;
  • Residential Burglary
  • Anti-Social Behaviour across the entire ward including nuisance neighbours, rowdy youths and alcohol related disorder;
  • Drugs - supply and misuse across the entire ward prioritised towards class A drugs

The Mapesbury Safer Neighbourhood Team has made burglary their number one priority and the team are currently visiting every household to give crime prevention advice and encourage resident to report suspicious behaviour and any crime so that they can build a pattern of local crime. Email contacts and alerts remains an important way of helping the SNT obtain intelligence and distribute information effectively. There is an ‘Adopt a burglar ‘ scheme where a close eye is kept on known active burglars and this is leading to arrests and court cases.
