Autumn Night Patrols

Brent Anti-Social Behaviour Team and Brent police officers, along with enforcement officers have been on patrol around the borough to address anti-social behaviour, violent crime, robbery, burglary, street drinking and women’s safety issues. Joint patrols between the police and council will also be concentrated in parks, open spaces and town centres to monitor and enforce anti-social use of fireworks over Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire night. Officers will be monitoring licence venues, checking CCTV, to address and enforce against anti-social behaviour, licence breaches, noise nuisance and sexual offences.

A Public Spaces Protection Order is in place to prohibit the use of unauthorised fireworks in all Brent’s parks and open spaces and anyone caught could be issued with a £100 fixed penalty notice.

If you witness a crime in progress - contact 999 in emergencies or 101 for non-urgent incidents. You can also make a report to Crime stoppers- 0800 555111- You can make your reports in confidence and your identity will not be revealed. For anti-social behaviour concerns within the Brent area, you can  contact community.safety@brent.gov.uk.

Scams

Fake Primark gift card emails. Phishing emails promising Primark gift card ‘rewards’ have been circulating. They work by claiming that you need to ‘activate the delivery’ in order to receive the reward and even attempt to deceive you by including ‘your account information’. More.
Amazon ‘brushing’. Receiving or being delivered a package you've not paid for isn’t a win. Amazon ‘brushing’ is a scam where fraudulent Amazon sellers send cheap-to-ship items to unsuspecting people, then falsely log it as a genuine sale in order to artificially inflate sales volumes. More

Postcode Lottery phone scam reported by a member. They seem to have a lot of details on the person they are calling.  “You have won a holiday to be used in next year, also a card to give you 40% off shopping and takeaways."  It culminates in passing the phone to supervisor who wants to put £1 into your account, whichever one you choose!  NEVER give out details of accounts!
