MapRA annual report

You should have this by Easter; let me know if not. Thanks to our team of deliverers. Will do a survey afterwards to see if members (a) think it is useful and (b) whether prefer by email.

You will see in it that we have a new sponsor, Opa! - Greek cakes / café next to Kilburn station (where Kilburn flowers used to be). But have put their address wrongly as 2 Exeter Road. Apologies to them - and to the member who lives at 2 Exeter Road!

Another correction is that Bliss chemist on Willesden Lane is now closing at 7pm rather than 10pm.

On the Covid Front

Brent levels of Covid vaccination remain among the lowest in Britain. But good news that the vaccination clinic in the basement of the Central Mosque of Brent will open again on this Thursday, 14 April and Good Friday, 15 April from 10:00-14:00 and on Sunday, 24 April from 10:00-15:00. Jabs are available for all adults needing the first, second or third vaccination; and for fourth vaccinations for over-75s and for younger people with a GPs note confirming extra vulnerability.

Watling Gardens dementia Garden

4 years ago. Cllr Lia Colacicco got a donation of a Chelsea garden and a MapRA team transported it to a new home at Watling Gardens to form a dementia garden for residents. It now needs a bit of tlc, and a group has started to meet occasionally, probably on Saturday mornings, to tidy it up. If you are interested in joining us let me know and I’ll put you in circulation for it.

Foraging walk Sat 23 April

11am-1230pm. Meet at gates of Paddington Old Cemetery, Willesden Lane at 1055am. Organised by Michael Stuart of the Kensal to Kilburn harvesting group. Pick and eat a fresh salad growing wild in Kilburn. A short group walk to identify and talk about as many weeds, particularly edible leaves as can be found - from dandelion to garlic mustard, cow parsley to ground elder. Joint walk with Friends of Paddington Old Cemetery so it will be a chance to find out about their biodiversity work too.  End up having an outside picnic with the tasty freshly picked salad. RSVP: Michael.Stuart6@gmail.com

Bird Watching. In West Hampstead, Friday 29 April

7.30pm. In West Hampstead Community Centre, 17 Dornfell Street. NW6 1QN. Richard Burdett will cover the 30 birds most likely to see in West Hampstead (or around here!); £6 per person (£3 concession) info@cawh.org.uk 020 7794 3729
