Blue badge scam

Recently there have been some incidents in Brent where males have approached people who have parked in Blue badge holder bays. These people have tricked the blue badge holder into thinking that they still have to pay and display and scan their blue badge on the pay and display machine. While they are doing this they say it’s not working and need the bank card and pin, sometimes getting the person to try numerous times with different bank cards. They obtain the bank card making them believe that the machine had chewed it up, convincing them that the bank will send them a new one then leave.

Fake competitions on social media

Watch out for convincing copycat social media accounts contacting you to claim that you’ve won a prize. Many of these accounts are created by fraudsters who target you based on your social media activity and interests – they can catch you out with offers that could feasibly be genuine.
