Burglary through gardens

Over last 2-3 weeks there has been a spate of burglaries entered from gardens in Cranhurst and Chandos Roads. Gardens have been entered and in some cases, sheds broken into and bikes stolen. Maybe worth beefing up security of fences, gates and shed. Also might be worth checking whether home insurance covers bikes; bikes inside sheds and inside the home aren’t always covered unless added specifically.

Report suspicious activity

Vigilance on the part of the public is one of the best ways of preventing and detecting crime and antisocial behaviour.
Have you witnessed Anti-Social behaviour including ;
  • Fly tipping
  • Street drinking
  • Drug dealing/ Drug taking / Substance misuse
  • Brothel/ Prostitution / Soliciting / Kerb Crawling
  • Harassment / Intimidation
  • Suspected Cuckooing
  • Nuisance Premises
  • Vulnerable individual causing ASB
  • Anti-Social Shisha Venue
  • Neighbour disputes
  • Groups or individuals making threats
  • Rough sleeping / Begging
For anti-social behaviour concerns within the Brent area, you can  contact community.safety@brent.gov.uk. Although you may make reports of ASB anonymously, sometimes this can limit the actions they can take. They will not disclose your identity if you do not want them to.

Don’t get fined. Minster Road reminder

Easy to miss but Minster Road (on other side of the A5 leading to Hampstead school) is restricted to traffic at school hours in morning and afternoon. Use the road then and it will cost you as Barnet are hot on this. It is part of a Healthy School Street scheme.

Sale of Christmas cards and presents in aid of The Amber Trust, 20th and 21st November

St. Gabriel’s Church has been selling Fairtrade items for many years but no longer.  A generous resident has bought the remaining stock and has donated it to raise funds for The Amber Trust – a wonderful charity with low overheads which raises money for teaching and musical opportunities for blind or partially sighted children , some with additional needs. (also supported by MapRA from proceeds of the fete)  They are at present supporting over 600 children and Covid has restricted  their  fund raising so they appreciate every pound that is raised. Their slogan is that for these children “Music is not a pastime but a lifeline”

So Maggie and Peter are going to have a weekend fund-raising sale on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on both days, selling this stock from their front hall, at 66 Dartmouth Rd.  There are lots of Christmas cards and items which will make excellent Christmas gifts, all being sold at half their usual price.  They do hope you will come along and bring as many family, friends and neighbours as you can.  A glass of wine or juice with a mince pie or piece of cake will be given to anyone spending more than £10 for this worthwhile charity – so it can be a bit of a party as well!”

Open Studio

Belinda Syme is having an exhibition and sale of pottery, painting and collages at 14 Sheldon Road NW2 3AJ. Sunday 21st November 11am to 5pm
