Elms for London Project

The Metropolitan Public Gardens Association has a new project (you may be aware they run the hugely successful Bulbs for London initiative); they will distribute young, disease resistant, elm trees across London. This is to encourage landowners, park managers, schools, community and friends groups, and garden designers to join them to bring the project to fruition. It is hoped that it will appeal to the public in view of its history and to promote this iconic tree within the environment especially with its wildlife benefits. For more information and for application email, visit the website www.elms4london.org.uk

Low Traffic Neighbourhood

You may be interested to know that the Olive Road LTN scheme will end and the planters removed. This was controversial and after consultation Brent Council have decided to remove it; This probably removes any similar threat to other roads in the neighbourhood. However, the school-time closure of the road outside Mora school will stay. (personally pleased about that as our grandson goes there)

The Windmill Pub closed

Rental bike hazard

I reported before the news that the new owners reopened the pub. However, sadly, it has now closed again.
A member from Melrose Avenue is concerned about rental bikes being left in the middle of pavements. Having a rental bike left in the middle of the pavement is a nuisance to pedestrians, people with walkers or buggies and the visually impaired. There is, in principle, no reason why they cannot be left on the edge of the kerb or even at the side of the street as long as they don't take up a resident's parking space.Difficult to see how people can be compelled to sensible about this but suggest if you come across one to move it out of the way to reduce the nuisance.
Membership renewal. Thanks to those who renewed promptly. Makes life easier
