Recent Burglaries. Local police report that, in the recent weeks, there has been a large increase in back garden burglaries in the area, targeting tools in sheds. And not limited to unsecured back doors and windows. It has happened very recently to members in St Gabriel’s Road. Good exterior sensor lights can be an effective burglar deterrent. Loan fee fraud. “Which” magazine reports that cases of loan fee fraud are up by a fifth compared to last year. It’s a scam where a fraudster asks for an upfront fee, usually between £25 and £450, in order to take out a non-existent loan. They usually target people who have been searching for loans online. At this time of year, plus an ongoing cost of living crisis, can mean extra added pressure on your finances but always check the legitimacy of the lender by using the FCA’s website to ensure they are registered. MapRA Local Briefing. We decided, after consultation with you recently, not to do a Xmas newsletter this year. However we have produced a briefing note for members showing contact details for local services; Police, Health, Brent, Other support, Councillors and MapRA.
