Witness appeal for shooting

Police were called at around 2am on last Sunday, 13 June, to reports of shots fired in the area of Mandela Close, NW10. A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with gunshot injuries to his leg. He was discharged from hospital later that day and was subsequently charged with assault on an emergency worker. Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101, providing the reference 1143/13JUN. To remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Covid testing

The mosque is no longer doing the lateral flow tests and the nearest centre is Willesden Green Library.  But one can collect Lateral Flow tests free of charge from the chemists and do them at home and then post it off. If you need to book a PCR test nearby this has to be online and there is a centre in Kilburn. Book or order a test at brent.gov.uk/testing

Women and Girl's Safety in Willesden Green

Brent Council will be bidding for some money from the Home Office Safer Streets fund. This fund has been made available off the back of the Sarah Everard case and other serious cases which have resulted in fatalities and is focussed on the safety of women and girls in public spaces.

Proposals for this funding cannot be borough wide and must reflect smaller locations. The decision has been made to focus this bid on the Willesden Green area. Brent are keen to gather the views and experiences of residents and community groups in the development of this bid. The Home Office are particularly interested in new and innovative ideas, so Brent welcomes all kinds of suggestions as to what may increase the safety and feelings of safety of women and girls in our public spaces. To share your views and experiences of this issue please follow this link and complete the survey by Friday 25th June 2021.

If you have experienced or witnessed harassment and/or abuse against women and girls there is support available – please see the attached directory of services if you require any support. Directory of VAWG Services
