Correction

The link in previous email to the Big Give refugee appeal didn’t work so here it is, (I hope!) again. Link

But it is also useful to send a new email as missed a couple of things: The first urgent.

Guided walk with Cllr Lia Colacicco, Mayor of Brent; in support of her nominated charities.

A tour around some of the great people, places, businesses and cultural institutions of greater Cricklewood. Led by Alan, long time Willesden and Brent resident, amateur historian and qualified Camden tour guide. Meet 3pm at Kilburn Underground station; finish at The Crown, Cricklewood.
Advance tickets £10; to book see Eventbrite page that says free to register but adds "just turn up or book we're expecting £10 per person for envelope collection on the day - normal ticket price is £15 for a walk like this". Hope lots of people can make it.

Mayor Lia’s sponsored walk tomorrow 3pm to 5pm

Ukraine refugee accommodation

One of our members who has registered to provide accommodation for the refugees, has suggested joining forces with other similar people to find refugees who wish to come. Her thought was that joining forces to find refugees might mean accommodating a group in the area who would already know each other; which may help. And might in any case be useful for people offering accommodation to know of each other to offer any help / advice. Let me know what you think and / or  wish to be in touch with others on this.

Vaccination

Apologies. The information about booster vaccination in the Mosque turned out not to be quite correct. The 4th booster at the mosque basement (next session Sunday 1030am to 230pm)  is currently available only for people who are immune-suppressed or who meet the criteria for classification for emergency anti-virals. To get the 4th shot you need to provide relevant evidence; letter from doctor or consultant. If you have that backup the service is very useful as 4th Covid booster jabs are hard to find even for those whose vulnerability makes them eligible. Mr Amjid Ali Riaz, the surgeon running the service, says that the vaccination doctors can come to street level for people unable to manage the stairs down to the basement.

And the Vaccine bus is coming to Cricklewood (Oaklands Road) on Thursday 24 March and 31 March 11am-5pm. No need to book appointment, bring ID, have NHS no or be registered with GP. And if you are unable to leave your home you can arrange to get vaccinated at  home by phoning 020 3114 7185

Ukraine Refugee Appeal

Let you know about the Big Give's Ukraine Refugee Appeal. They still have match funding for donations for the next 11 days, so any donations will be doubled while funds exist. Link (NatWest is also matching donations until the end of June link, and Sainsburys will match donations of Nectar points)

Opportunistic intruders …

.. in Teignmouth Road (and no doubt elsewhere) checking door security and back gates late at night. At 1.30am on Monday night a member’s security camera recorded a guy trying the strength of the front door and then checking out the back gate.
