Trust you had a good break. Can 2022 be worse than last 2 years?! I live in hope. Happy New Year.

Strangest scams of 2021

For every sophisticated scheme spun by scammers, there are more crazy attempts that can raise a smile. From the parcel prowler with pruning shears to a mysterious windfall from James Bond, here are the most peculiar scam attempts Which magazine came across last year. And there is an easy way to make them aware of scams directly with their scam sharer tool.

Road closure, Shoot-up Hill

Recycling Xmas trees and cards

You can cut Xmas trees up and put in your green bin or take to local collection point (our nearest is Gladstone Park – Kendal Road entrance) until 9 Jan.

And recycle Xmas cards to Leslie Daisley’s charity (The Paul Daisley trust to raise awareness of colon cancer). She and her sister Caroline make them into new cards to sell in aid of the trust. Drop them off to me at 64 Teignmouth Road (leave in plastic bag outside door); or to Lesley Daisley at 11 Montrose Avenue.

Get fit?

Join the regular Gladstone Park Parkrun; every Saturday 9am. About 170 people of all ages ran the New Year’s day parkrun yesterday. Social way of keeping motivated to be fit. (meet by the café off Kendal Road) 5km around the park. Walk, run, volunteer or spectate.  Free but should register first: More on the website: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/gladstone/
