Cllr Tariq Dar

Also appealing for warm coats for men, women and kids in need. If you have any surplus drop them in to the Community Centre (at beginning of Marley Walk past the mosque) on Tuesdays.
37 Lydford Road saga; latest
You may remember that the building that was eventually built was too large and Brent Council ordered its removal; unsurprisingly the developer appealed. The Planning Inspectorate have now made their decision; The Inspector has rejected the appeal but varied the enforcement notice.  The enforcement notice now says that rather than knocking it down, the developer can alter the existing structure to comply with the original planning permission; (Not sure how that is to be done but the developer now has a further 9 months to comply with the new enforcement notice). It is good news in that the planning inspectorate have rejected the building as too bulky and obtrusive; but didn’t object on the grounds that it detracts from the appearance of the Conservation Area.

Xmas card too late?

The Trussell Trust, who run Brent’s food bank, have a deal which helps them and may help you if you have missed deadline for Xmas card postal delivery:  They have partnered with DontSendMeACard.com to design some e-cards that can be delivered in just a few clicks. The cost, which is the equivalent of a paper card and postage, is turned into a donation and sent to the charity of your choice. (It’s also a green option!)  More

Green feedback

Brent very keen to have residents views on how one can make local neighbourhoods greener and more sustainable. focusing initially on two key areas, waste and green space; to reduce how much rubbish we throw away and make more spaces for nature to thrive across the borough. To offer suggestions link is: Let’s Talk Climate: waste and green space

MapRA newsletter

Apologies that we were unable to do our printed newsletter to members this year again. However, we live in hope that we will be able to do a spring newsletter in March and also to be able to hold an AGM in St Gabriel’s church.

MapRA Treasurer

We find that we will be without a treasurer from next AGM (in April / May). Be very interested to hear from any member who would like to take this on; preferably with some experience of such matters.
