Long Covid - seminar 25 Feb

With the Omicron wave seemingly in retreat, it's easy to forget those suffering from Long Covid. The British Lung Foundation most certainly has not forgotten them and, as part of its effort to throw light on the issue, is holding a seminar next Friday, 25 February, in the basement of the Central Mosque of Brent in Station Parade. All are welcome, particularly Long Covid sufferers and those who care for them. The seminar will last from 2pm to 3pm, admission is free and is via the Mosque's Entrance 1.

You can take unwanted bulky waste and recycle it or give it a new home. The skip will be touring the borough, visiting each of Brent’s 21 wards.  You can drop off up to five bulky items free of charge, as long as you can show proof of a Brent address.

Bike hangars

Brent Council propose four new bike hangar locations in our area:
  • Anson Road- between no 48 and junction with Chichele Road
  • Teignmouth Road by Teignmouth Lodge
  • Dartmouth Road between no 16 and Mapesbury Road
  • Melrose Avenue by Haversham lodge.
(there are 4 more in the other half of the ward: Cedar, Rockhall & Mora Roads and Oman Avenue)

Brent has sent a consultation letter and questionnaire to the residents/businesses on the affected roads. These together with drawings of the locations can be viewed online at https://haveyoursay.brent.gov.uk. Should you have any queries regarding the design of the scheme please contact Padideh Asgari; 020 8937 5600 or by emailing highwaysconsult@brent.gov.uk

Fortune Green Choir

Want to do a bit of a puff for this; started in our area by Maggie and Jenny but grew and migrated to West Hampstead. They are now back singing again and welcome new members. The choir sings at Emmanuel Church, Lyncroft Gardens NW6 on Tuesday evenings, 7 - 8.30 pm. New members are welcome, with free taster sessions available. (I would like to go again myself but Tuesday evenings not good). All welcome, no auditions, singing everything from pop, jazz and musicals to classical and more. Email fortunegreenchoir@gmail.come for more information and Covid policy.
