Murder Investigation. Police have launched a murder investigation after 44-year-old Andre Foster was stabbed at Gable Lodge, a block of flats at 21 Mowbray Road on the corner with Christchurch Avenue. It occurred at approximately 9.45am on Tuesday 20 December; police were called and the air ambulance and London Ambulance Service attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer leading the investigation believes that people were present at the address at the time of the murder, some of whom may have left the scene prior to police arrival. Police are also asking for anyone to get in touch if they:
  • saw someone leaving Gable Lodge in a hurry
  • were in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious
  • have heard who was responsible.
An online portal for the submission of photos, videos and information has been set up at link Alternatively, they ask people to call the Incident Room on 020 8358 1010 or phone 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 1936/20DEC22. To remain 100% anonymous they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The police news release is at link
Street Cleaning. MapRA Committee member Alex Henderson is particularly concerned about the issue of street cleaning. And there are several comments about this on the Nextdoor message board. Alex believes that the standard of street cleaning in Mapesbury the past couple of months has been much worse than it had been previously. The main part of Walm Lane, running from St Gabriels Church past Willesden Green station appears to be cleaned no more than once a week.  The side roads within Mapesbury are cleaned, he estimates, once a month at most.  He has asked the Council whether the frequency of street cleaning has been reduced (in advance of proposed change next year to cleaning only when people report it needs cleaning).

Phillip Stagles, our local neighbourhood Manager, (and the main contact point with Council) says that all residential roads should be swept once each week, although the particularly heavy leaf fall this autumn and the recent freeze has hindered them somewhat. He will follow up the issues raised by Alex and others in the Nextdoor thread. If you have any specific issues about particular roads contact him at  Phillip.Stagles@brent.gov.uk
