Think it went well last Thursday. To my embarrassment I forgot about it! But there are others nearly local on Tuesday 3 August: 10am at Kilburn (Malvern Road opposite Carlton Open Space) and 2pm Queen’s Park (Compton Road NW10).

Robbery in Melrose Avenue

Correction to last week;s item, it occurred on Tuesday 13 July not Thursday if you are looking through CCTV footage.

Summer time Burglary Advice

During the warmer weather, we try to keep our properties well ventilated and cooler. Police are reminding residents that although this is more comfortable, it can make homes more vulnerable to thieves. Burglars will make the most of easy opportunities and target properties that are insecure. They will exploit open windows; often while householders are asleep upstairs or even when they are just in the back garden. Taking a few simple precautions can reduce the chances of you becoming a victim of a summer crime.

Police are encouraging people to fit and most importantly, use good locks on downstairs and accessible windows. Burglary, on the whole, is an opportunist crime. A burglar will select his target because it offers him (or her) the best opportunity to carry out his crime undetected and with the fewest number of obstacles in his way. A determined burglar can get through the smallest of open windows. When you leave your home or go to bed, close and lock all windows and doors.

A building that presents itself as unoccupied and insecure is far more likely to be targeted than one, which is properly secured.

Value our parks

This year, more than ever, our parks and green spaces have been a vital lifeline to so many of us during lockdown. Apparently we are now in the annual Love Parks Week (23 July – 1 August). The campaign is led by Keep Britain Tidy and supported by the players of People's Postcode Lottery. To support them and more details see link
