The B&Q inquiry is now closed. Ben Tansley led the Rule 6 opposition to it (which included MapRA); we are indebted to him (you can see his closing speech at link – it’s ID25 under Inquiry Documents, plenty of other docs too!). The inspector expects to complete his report around the end of April and submit it to the Secretary of State in May. It is unlikely that we’ll see the resulting decision before the Autumn though.

TV Licensing Renewal Reminder.Scam - Others may also have received this “Your TV Licence is about to expire. If you want to keep enjoying your favourite shows without interruption, you must renew your licence now. It's quick, easy and secure. Please click the button below to renew your TV Licence … ”  Like many scam emails, this email uses convincing branding and even adds a ‘message ID’ number in an attempt to appear genuine. But the email sent from is clearly not the company.

How does one know if one of these emails or others is genuine or not?
If a communication you’ve received out of the blue is attempting to get you to take immediate action, treat it with suspicion. Look over the email carefully, noting the email address it was sent from and if the text feels generic.  If you’re unsure about an email you’ve received then do not follow any of its links. Instead, visit the organisation’s official website away from the email and log in to your account as normal and check for any issues.
