Windmill Court devt; correction and reminder

Correction.

Clare Court is not a part of the Windmill Court development and the new blocks are 7-storeys not 11 (I had my obsolete information from the foot of a more recent email)

The plan is to build two 7 storey blocks either side of Windmill Court. One will be on the Shoot-Up-Hill side and the other on the Mapesbury Road side. To create the latter, the plan proposes to demolish a row of maisonettes and the existing car parking. The proposals also include parking for 53 cars, cycle locking facility, new location of bins in a central covered location and a substantial renovation and improvements to the ground floor/communal areas of the Windmill Court tower. Plans also include fencing the estate to restrict access to permitted gates and blocking off any access from Petrie Close.

This will produce 60 new homes, net increase of 44, bringing the total to 182.

I believe there is considerable opposition to this plan, particularly from those residents on the lower floors whose views and light will be impeded by the building of the new blocks so close to the tower, and the loss of the grass area and mature trees.

Reminder of Microsoft teams meeting on Thursday 2nd December from 7pm-8pm.  If you would like to join the online session, please reply to  Sidi.Buhari@networkhomes.org.uk and he will send you a team’s invite.

Since 25th October 21, Brent Police have run an Operation called Autumn Nights to tackle Robberies and Burglaries conducted on the Borough. It was conducted daily during late shifts until midnight. Officers patrolled Brent using a variety of methods which included vehicles, pedal cycles and hi-viz foot patrols. Since the start of the Operation Brent has seen over a 40% decrease in the amount of Burglaries reported to Police. There was also a drop in the number of Robberies reported.  As the Winter arrives residents and commuters should still remain vigilant as the days get shorter and nights longer. Please take precautions when leaving any property empty by using timer lights and alarms etc. For more crime prevention advice please visit: https://www.met.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/
