More scams
  • The latest Post Office text message scam encourages you to take action by telling you that your parcel has been sent back to your local branch. It sends you to a legitimate-looking website under the guise of charging you for redelivery. This can be very convincing, especially if you’re doing a lot more online shopping at this time. But the Post Office will never contact you like this. Details from Which magazine
  • Another received by a member involves an email from PayPal for an amount of 549.77 US dollars stating that this was scheduled to be paid from her PayPal account. If she wanted to challenge this there was an overseas number to call. She deleted the message; opened up her account and found the amount within her activity box waiting to be approved for payment or cancelled. She clicked on ‘cancel’ and then phoned the Paypal help line who confirmed that the request for payment was a scam and that it was known to their fraud department.
