OUR HIDDEN GEM

The Dell is Northwest London’s best kept secret. An award-winning park, it is the jewel in the heart of Mapesbury, a truly magical garden hidden behind a row of residential houses. Once you have discovered it, you’ll keep coming back.

Although the Dell isn’t very large, there is something for everyone to enjoy: a superb play area for children, a pond teeming with wildlife, green lawns for summer lazing, seating and stunning gardens. It is simply a wonderful place to come with the kids or just sit, stroll, listen to the birds and enjoy some peace.

In 2000, local residents decided that this green space, known at the time as Hoveden Road Play Area, was too valuable to go be wasted. MapRA were a big supporter of this campaign and flag-shipped transforming the area into a park area.

Mapesbury Dell Trust was formed and through lots of hard work (all voluntary), the £150,000 required was raised. A third of this came from the Lottery Fund. The rest from various other grants as well as the generous support of Brent Council.
