Covid Testing.

A committee member is very concerned that people are not using the Covid test centre (at the Mosque) as much as they should. Good idea to go (to protect others) as long as one doesn’t feel that negative test is somehow carte blanche to avoid restrictions; Book test at https://www.brent.gov.uk/your-community/coronavirus/test-and-trace/

Help deliver the COVID-19 vaccine?

No previous healthcare experience is required as full training will be delivered via a combination of combination of remote e-learning and practical face-to-face sessions. Read more

Covid vaccination appointment scam

A member received an email headed “IMPORTANT – Book an appointment using the NHS e-Referral Service NHSVaccination  … Your NHS.CO.UK order #203-9320557-23482748 has been dispatched.” This is a scam; sent to email address and no indication of the member’s name,
The Police also add that COVID-19 vaccine will always be free in the UK and delivered by the NHS. Patients will be sent a letter by the NHS call/recall service informing them of their eligibility, and receive a call from Primary Care Networks, offering the choice of booking at a GP-led vaccination centre or using the national booking service. Remember that any contact regarding a real NHS COVID-19 vaccination booking will never:

  • Ask for payment or any bank details
  • Ask you to press a button on your keypad when on the phone
  • Ask you to send a text to confirm the booking

Telephone scam.

An incident with the elderly neighbour of a member, She was tricked over the phone last week into giving out a lot of personal information. They pretended to be from the police, informing her that her bank cards had been compromised. This is not a new scam; but the difficulty we have is that the very people who need to be aware of these things aren’t on email. If you know of someone vulnerable to this let them know.

Contacting Police.

We have been responding to the local police on their email (recently about damage to bollards; groups of non-distancing people) but local Police are keen to point out that the SNT police are not a 24/7 service, and residents need to call 101 to report the problems. If an individual is present at the time of committing an offence then residents need to call 999 for a police vehicle to be dispatched to the location immediately.
