The banks least likely to refund scam victims. New data reveals the banks least likely to refund scam victims and the firms with the weakest fraud controls. Nationwide tops the table with the best record, reimbursing 85% of fraud losses, compared with just 24% by the worst performer. Find out how your bank compares (Mine is near the bottom!)

Plants that grow well locally. Looking back, I have an email from Margaret Mann about plants that’d do well locally here. May be useful to some of you. Members of MapRA’s Garden Club have put together a list of plants they like, and which have been found to thrive in our area. The survey was based on their experiences, often over many years. These are their top 20.

  • Roses, not surprisingly, came top of the list, closely followed by Euphorbias and Hellebores including Helleborus Niga (the Christmas rose).

Then, in descending order,

  • Hardy Geranium (Cranesbill), Viburnum, Mexican orange blossom (Choisya Ternata), Cyclamen and Fuchsia.
  • Next were Hydrangeas (including climbing), Jasmine (Jasmine officinale), Honeysuckle (Lonicera), Clematis (esp. the winter-flowering macropetella, Travellers’ joy), Primrose (Primula vulgaris), Ceanothus and Japanese maple (Acer palmatum).

Other favourites included Skimmia (or Japonica), Bear’s breeches (Acanthus mollis), Dogwood (Cornus), Euonymus and Pittospurnum
